Scope of Position 

University East Hospital is committed to enhancing the quality of care provided to patients. The Registered Nurse-Patient Care Coordinator-Float (RN-PCC) functions as an integral member of the team of care providers on the inpatient medical, surgical, and substance abuse units and reflects a culture of cooperation, enthusiasm, and mutual respect.  The team, consisting of the RN-PCCs, Patient Care Associate (PCA), Student Nursing Assistant (SNA), Student Care Assistant (Sitter) and Unit Clerical Associate (UCA)  provides patient care and supportive services that are directed towards achievement of patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing length of hospitalization and decreasing costs.  Patients and their family will experience the benefits of primary nursing patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.

Position Summary

The RN-PCC-Float is responsible for managing care to the patient and his/her family, and for directing and supervising the other members of the patient care team. They are responsible for assessing, implementing, coordinating, delegating, and evaluating the provision of nursing to assigned patients. The RN-PCC-Float prioritizes patient care needs and provides leadership and development of the patient care team.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

Graduate of an accredited school of registered nursing.  Current Ohio licensure.

Previous nursing experience in a medical surgical acute care setting and B.S.N. preferred.

           

On going:

Practices within the Hospital’s policies and procedures and Division of Nursing Standards of Practice, including attendance and dress code policies.  Maintains infection control standards, implements appropriate patient safety protocols as necessary.  Adheres to the mission, vision, values statements as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, formulating and meeting developmental goals.

Maintains knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures, and protocols.  Maintains current Ohio RN license.  Meets mandatory educational and health requirements.
