The Occupational Therapist in Acute Care Rehabilitation provides occupational therapy treatment to a diverse group of diagnoses including spinal cord injury, head injury, stroke, & orthopedic patients, as well as all patients in University Hospital, the Ross Heart Hospital, and the James Cancer Hospital requiring rehabilitation services.
Responsible for the evaluation & development of a comprehensive care plan for all patients. Functions within a team concept of rehab professionals. Documents patients' abilities, progress & outcomes. Provides quality services to an assigned group of patients and performs duties associated with patient care and participation in interdisciplinary teams.
Minimum Qualifications
Occupational Therapist rehabilitation team members must be licensed and/or certified with the respective profession (occupational therapy), and meet the educational and/or certification requirements established by their professions (occupational therapists must hold a bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy at a minimum). Degree must have been granted from an accredited institution. All licensed professionals must be cleared through the National Database of Practitioners. Typically, one-two years experience working in a medical setting is preferred for all professionals hired.
Maintains professional licensure; demonstrates commitment to continuing education; meets mandatory education and health requirements; demonstrates competence in technical, interpersonal, and cognitive skills required to meet essential job functions.
