Position Summary

Research Lab Technician who provides high quality customer service for the Tissue Archives Service in the Department of Pathology in response to requests for diagnostic pathology specimens from investigators in Pathology and OSU Wexner Medical Center, OSU Clinical Trials Office, pathology support staff, attorney offices and outside requests; responds to requests and gathers all necessary information for processing of requests; monitors and validates the appropriateness of individuals requesting material; ensures proper approval for use of diagnostic specimens has been obtained; locates specimens and communicates with investigators regarding sharing of specimens; pulls banked specimens from an extensive archival collection; enters information into the Tissue Archive Database; returns specimens back to the archival collection; prepares specimens for pick up; keeps track of many projects at various stages of completion; interacts with pathologists on a daily basis regarding review of cases for utilization for various requests; trains and provides direction to students working in the area; works as a team member in developing Tissue Archive Service area, efficiently and accurately contributing to operations.

Job Requirements
