Research Senior Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study peripheral neuropathy as directed in the Department of Neurological Surgery in the Townsend Lab for Neurobiology and Energy Balance; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including but not limited to PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures, and Northern and Western analysis; sorts and processes tissue and blood samples; tests and evaluates current procedures; performs research procedures on patient participants in an IRB‑approved study; records, consolidates, and assists with analysis of research results; assists in evaluating validity of data obtained from experimental procedures; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; prepares research progress reports; assists the principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; conducts library research on requested topics through reviewing current literature; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training junior research staff, undergraduate, and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supplies, including specimens and inventory, and initiates procurement requests as needed. This position is 25% lab management/administration and 75% clinical research duties, including human patient measurements and interaction, data management and analyses, and human tissue processing and analyses in the lab.
Minimum Education Required
Years of relevant experience required: 0 years with Bachelor's Degree, 2 years with Associate's Degree, or 4 years with High School Diploma
