Technical Director, Preclinical Imaging Shared Resource

The Technical Director of the Preclinical Imaging Shared Resource oversees technical operations, scientific support, and workflow management for a high‑performance imaging core serving preclinical research programs. This role ensures high‑quality data acquisition, instrument performance, user support, and compliance within a multi‑modality imaging environment. The Technical Director provides expert guidance in model selection, imaging protocol development, study design, data analysis, and new technology implementation.

Required Qualifications

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Imaging Science, or a related field and 3+ years of hands‑on experience with at least two preclinical imaging modalities or

  • Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Medical Physics, Imaging Science, or a related field and 5+ years of relevant experience or

  • Bachelor’s degree with 7 years relevant experience.

  • Demonstrated expertise in imaging protocol development and data analysis.

  • Experience working with animal models in a research setting.

  • Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage multiple technical workflows.
     

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working within a shared resource/core facility environment.

  • Familiarity with cancer biology, drug development, or translational research.

  • Knowledge of regulatory compliance (IACUC, radiation safety, biosafety).

  • Experience in grant writing or supporting funded research.

  • Supervisory or training experience.
