Scope of Position
The Supervisor is primarily responsible for administering nursing operations within The James Cancer Hospital and Research Institute during off-shift hours including weekends and holidays. The Administrative Nursing Supervisor is responsible for enforcing hospital, nursing and medical policies and procedures. The Ohio State University Medical Center is committed to enhancing the quality of care our patients receive.
Position Summary
Supervising the immediate care of our patients on a given tour of duty, which includes making rounds to all patient care areas. Obtains report from the charge nurse and is knowledgeable of current patient status. Supervises the personnel of the nursing department on duty and contributes to evaluation of nursing personnel, recommends personnel action to the appropriate nurse manager including disciplinary actions and/or terminations. Coordinates nursing activities with those of related departments, acts as liaison to OSUH. Provides information for staffing needs. Functions as The James Cancer Hospital & Research Institute representative for crisis, emergency or unusual situations.
Minimum Qualifications
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current Ohio licensure. Progressively responsible hospital nursing experience in administration, and supervision. BSN required. ACLS certification preferred.
