The Assistant Nurse Manager assists the Nurse Manager in leading a team of care providers cultivating collaboration, enthusiasm, and mutual respect. The team provides patient care and supportive services directed towards achievement of positive patient care outcomes, maximizing the patient’s involvement in his/her own plan of care, improving service levels, reducing the length of hospitalization, and decreasing costs. Through the collaboration with the manager’s leadership, patients and their families will experience the benefits of patient focused care through the integrated skills of all care team members.

Scope of Position 

The Assistant Nurse Manager assists with the planning, organization, direction and evaluation of patient care operations for a designated area(s) on a 24-hour basis.  The Assistant Nurse Manager is key in operationalizing the Medical Center’s mission, values and goals and assists in creating an environment that supports the nursing professional practice model.   The Assistant Nurse Manager contributes to the ongoing operations of the Nursing Department.

The Assistant Nurse Manager, under the guidance of the Manager, assists in managing, guiding, coaching, and evaluating the work performance of patient care staff in a designated area.  Ongoing collaboration with other patient care departments/areas that relate directly or indirectly to patient care operations and services is essential.

Supports the nursing professional practice model. Practices within the Medical Center’s policies and procedures, and Division of Nursing Standards of Practice. Maintains standards that promote patient safety.  Adheres to the Intensive Caring Values as demonstrated through positive patient/guest relations, positive and effective interactions with staff, and formulating and meeting developmental goals.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:         Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred, master’s in nursing or related field is desired.  Current Ohio RN license. Clinical experience in acute care setting required. Prior demonstration of leadership and management skills.

On going:        Maintains current Ohio RN license.  Meet mandatory educational and health requirements.  Maintains and seeks new knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction, current policies, procedures and protocols. Demonstrates computer skills required to perform job functions.

11 East Rhodes is a 39-bed unit in the Acute Care Department. On 11 East Rhodes, we specialize in the care of the older adult population. Promoting the independence and health of our geriatric patients is our primary focus. This requires virtual and hands on education which we provide to our staff, by concentrating on the specific issues the geriatric population can face when hospitalized. On our unit, nurses work directly with attending physicians to deliver optimal care in a team-centered environment. 11 East Rhodes is a wonderful place to learn and grow.
