The Burn Educator is a Registered Nurse who demonstrates expertise in education, burn care, evidence-based practice, and research, and collaborates with other disciplines in professional development activities. The Burn Educator incorporates knowledge and skill in clinical practice, adult learning principles and best practice educational standards. The Burn Educator is responsible for facilitating the provision of direct and indirect care of patients and families through collaborative educational activities of the Department of Nursing Education, Nursing Professional Practice, The College of Medicine, The College of Nursing, and the Prior Health Sciences Library and entities outside the organization. The Burn Educator serves as a role model and resource for patient care staff within the unit/department/institution and community.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a master’s degree in nursing or a related field strongly preferred.
- Licensed to practice as a registered nurse in the state of Ohio.
- Current clinical experience in burn care (3-5 years)
- Clinical instruction experience (2-4 years)
- Strong leadership skills, effective communication, problem-solving, and strong organizational skills.
- Interested in learning and teaching new skills.
- Recent teaching experience through employment or community activities.
- Experience with, commitment to, and competence in dealing with adult burn populations.
- Strong facilitation and presentation skills.
- ABLS certified (within 6 months of hire)
