Position Summary
The Clinical Laboratory Assistant Manager works with, and reports to, the Histology Manager to assist in running the daily operations and provides leadership within the clinical histology laboratory in conjunction with the lab manager in the Department of Pathology; provides oversight and leadership for the lab during times when the manager is unavailable; works with the Histology Leads to carry out initiatives assigned by the Histology Manager; performs daily operations in the histology lab including technical lab work, and quality assurance, assumes leadership responsibilities to maintain workflow and to meet expected turnaround times; evaluates and ensures testing quality is in adherence with various standards; assists lab manager with quality improvement, safety, compliance, and inspection readiness programs; investigates and implements changes in technical policies and procedures; works closely with lab manager to implement administrative activities including human resources, finance, and budget planning and preparation; assumes leadership responsibilities for resolving problems and communicating resolutions to appropriate parties; communicates with colleagues, supervisors, physicians, and couriers with cooperation, professionalism, and promptness.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology, Biological Sciences or related field. American Society for Clinical Pathology as a Histotechnologist. 3 years of relevant experience required.
