Scope of Position

The Assistant Director provides oversight, hiring, orientation and evaluation of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, pharmacy technician team managers, pharmacy interns, pharmacy residents, and graduate students. This position provides oversight for the day-to-day operations of specialty pharmacy services, implements the department strategic plan, maintains compliance with specialty pharmacy accreditation standards, and takes ownership for process improvement related to the provision of high-quality, cost-effective pharmaceutical care;  identifies and resolves service problems; conducts research in pharmacy practice; personnel management; assists with the financial management and budgeting of the department; provides on-line staffing; and participates in the implementation of new technology to improve specialty pharmacy services, patient care, patient safety, and educational opportunities for staff and students.

Position Summary

OSUWMC Assistant Directors may be responsible for any of the following: coordinate and implement services within a functional area of the department; develop, implement and monitor programs that guide and support the provision of high quality cost effective pharmaceutical care; recommend a sufficient number of qualified and competent persons to provide the department’s services; continuously assess and improve the department’s performance; maintain appropriate quality and service indicators; participate in the selection of outside services if needed; ensure compliance with appropriate patient care and business practices; ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation agencies; embrace; adhere to customer service standards and encourage and support service orientation by other staff.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's of Science Degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) is required. Registered Pharmacist. 5 years of relevant experience required. 8-12 years of relevant experience preferred.
