Research Associate to join the newly established laboratory of Dr. Yoko Nishiga, focused on radiation immunology and cancer biology. The lab investigates how radiation therapy reshapes the tumor immune microenvironment, with particular emphasis on macrophage-targeted immunotherapies and advanced preclinical models using cutting-edge technologies.
The Research Associate will play a key role in building and supporting this new research program. The position involves performing a wide range of laboratory experiments, assisting in establishing and maintaining the daily operations of a newly formed laboratory, and supporting ongoing mouse and cell biology studies. This role offers exceptional opportunities for skill development, career advancement, and involvement in innovative, translational cancer research from the ground up.
Responsibilities include
- Perform in vitro experiments including cell culture, flow cytometry preparation, PCR, and western blotting
- Assist with in vivo studies including tumor implantation, injections, irradiation coordination, monitoring, and tissue collection
- Maintain cell lines, reagents, and lab stocks
- Conduct data collection and basic data analysis
- Maintain accurate and organized laboratory records
- Assist with ordering, equipment maintenance, and general lab organization
- Participate in research team meetings and assist with training students as needed
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- Master’s Degree or PhD in oncology, immunology, or related field preferred.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and willingness to learn new techniques
- 1 year of relevant experience
Desired Qualifications
- Experience with mouse handling or in vivo tumor models
- Experience with flow cytometry or radiation biology
- Familiarity with scientific recordkeeping and laboratory safety practices
