Job Description
The Office of Legal Affairs at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center is charged with the responsibility of protecting the resources of the university medical center. The Insurance Division, which is a division of the Office of Legal Affairs, manages and administers the University Self Insurance Program (USIP) with respect to its professional liability risks through underwriting, risk financing, consultation, and data analysis.
The Senior Insurance Analyst, under the direction and management of the Senior Assistant Vice President and Senior Director of Insurance, will collect, analyze, and interpret data related to the USIP professional liability insurance program, claims, and providers’ risks. Use statistical tools to identify trends and patterns to support strategic decision-making and improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the insurance program operations. Utilizing the risk management information system (RIMS), this role will develop queries and Business Intelligence reports to extract relevant data and design data visualization presentations. This position will collaborate with internal and external parties, including employed physicians, providers, hospital staff, credentialing, human resources and other parties. The Senior Insurance Analyst will evaluate the medical professional liability risk through the underwriting process and support the maintenance of financial records for claims. The Senior Insurance Analyst will demonstrate strong problem solving and risk assessment skills to support the insurance program.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of liability insurance and/or claims experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. This position will require a person with good organizational skills, sound judgment, and reason. This position requires the ability to: Communicate effectively with others through written and spoken language; Organize and manage documents and other work materials; Attention to details and accuracy; Collect data, establish facts, draw conclusions; Recommend appropriate action(s) based on those conclusions; PC literate, including Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); Proficient in claims management software (RIMS) and reporting tools; Read, analyze, and interpret information; Diagnose and solve problems; Prioritize and work on multiple projects at same time; Ability to work in a team environment.
