Scope of Position The Comprehensive Transplant Center coordinates and/or provides care of kidney, liver, lung, heart and pancreas transplant patients from the time of the referral to the OSU transplant system throughout the lifetime of their transplanted organ. This position is responsible for outreach and education of the general community and physicians & clinical staff at referring sites regarding the Comprehensive Transplant Center and the transplant product line.
Position Summary The Transplant Outreach Coordinator represents and markets the OSU Comprehensive Transplant Center throughout Ohio and contiguous states to referring physicians and facilities, such as dialysis centers, physician offices, other healthcare facilities, etc. This position functions to foster positive relationships with referral sites by assisting with the education of clinical staff and patients regarding the transplant process at The Ohio State University Medical Center. The Transplant Outreach Coordinator will also act as liaison between OSU transplant physicians, coordinators, and staff and outside physicians, nurses, and staff in order to facilitate compliance with indications for transplantation, affiliation agreements, diagnostic testing and patient follow-up. These activities will lead to the optimal management of current patients on the transplant waiting list; data for all activities will be reported at regular intervals.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s in Marketing/Communications, Business, Health Education, Nursing, Health Administration or related field. Graduate degree preferred or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Flexible, sensitive, and adaptable to transplant/referral site activities and travel within Ohio.
Evidence of progressively responsible experience in healthcare and proven ability to build consensus, listen and manage customer issues, and work with complex groups and systems is desired.
4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
