Scope of Position: The OSUMC Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Health Neuropsychology Clinic evaluates adults with cognitive concerns. Neuropsychological tests measure cognitive skills such as memory, problem-solving, information processing, attention, and psychomotor speed. These evaluations are a critical part of the long-term management of patients with neurological and psychiatric disorders (e.g., traumatic brain injury, epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, stroke, mood disorders, and others). Non-clinical evaluations are also sometimes completed, which may relate to issues such as disability status.

Under the general supervision of the Neuropsychologist, Psychometrist 3 administers on-on-one neuropsychological test batteries to individual patients using approved criteria and standards. Discuss and summarize results with the attending neuropsychologist. Serve as a member of the neuropsychology clinic. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Administering one-on-one neuropsychological test batteries to individual patients.
  • Scoring the neuropsychological tests.
  • Administer neuropsychological tests, collaborating with medical interpreters or non-English speaking patients.
  • Reports raw test scores to supervising neuropsychologist behavioral observations and assists in interpreting results.
  • Maintains and updates neuropsychological measures documentation and procedures manuals.
  • May recruit subjects or assist in research study efforts.
  • Participation in weekly team meetings
  • Performs other duties as necessary.
  • Acclimate new neuropsychology graduate students, interns, and fellows to the clinic operation procedures.
  • Provide general clinical orientation of Psychometrist role and training of new psychometrist.
  • Periodically review and ensure timeliness, accuracy, and overall quality of patient files of graduate students, interns, and psychometrists (those in Psychometrist 1 and Psychometrist 2 positions).
  • Participate in improving organizational performance through recommending areas or approaches for improvement activities, performing new procedures, collecting data and providing input to clinical discussions.

Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's Level Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience with a Major in psychology. Two years of relevant experience required.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Psychology or a related field (e.g., neuroscience). Previous experience in the administration of psychological/neuropsychological tests as a psychometrist is required.
