Position Summary

The Sustainability Student Assistant will support the Wexner Medical Center Sustainability Program Manager in various sustainability initiatives, focusing on energy reduction, waste minimization, and environmentally preferred purchasing. The role will help advance the medical center’s goals toward carbon neutrality and other resource stewardship targets. Ability to assist with physical tasks, such as setting up recycling stations or supporting waste management events. Flexibility to work evenings and weekends when necessary for sustainability events or initiatives.

Minimum Qualifications

For Hire:

· Current enrollment in a degree program related to environmental science, sustainability, or a similar field.

· Interest in sustainability, especially in a healthcare setting.

· Familiarity with sustainability practices, including energy efficiency, waste reduction, and environmentally responsible procurement.

· Strong organizational skills with an ability to manage data and track progress.

· Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks at once.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and willingness to learn new software tools.

· Good communication skills, with the ability to help create materials and engage with staff and patients.

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
