Job Description

Clinical Research Assistant participates in the data collection, maintenance, and reporting, and/or patient interfacing activities for clinical and translational research studies within the Department of Neurology/Division of Neuromuscular Diseases and Disorders in partnership with the College of Medicine Center for Clinical Research Management. This role involves assisting with clinical research studies in accordance with approved protocols, including studies involving interventions like mindfulness, medication, or devices. Key patient-facing duties include assessing patient records to identify eligible participants, recruiting, interviewing, and enrolling patients, obtaining informed consent, and educating participants on the study process. CRA coordinates patient appointments and procedures, administers standardized diagnostic, psychological, or behavioral testing and calculates scoring, and may collect, process, and evaluate biological samples. Administrative and support tasks include assisting with the collection, entry, and maintenance of clinical research data into study databases, preparing documentation for research progress reports, completing Institutional Review Board (IRB) and sponsor study documents, and assisting with the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.

Minimum Education Required

Bachelor’s Degree in Biological Sciences, Health Sciences or medical field, or equivalent combination of education experience required.

Experience Required

While no prior experience is required, proficient computer skills are essential.

Preferred Experience

2–4 years of relevant experience is preferred. Proficient computer skills are essential. Experience in research capacity desired; knowledge or experience in specialty may be desired; experience in phlebotomy may be desired; experience performing basic laboratory procedures to process biological specimens may be desired.

This is a patient facing position and is required to be onsite daily.

This position may require some local travel to other OSUWMC outpatient locations in the Columbus Metropolitan Area. Those locations may include Outpatient East, Dublin, New Albany, University Hospital Campus.
