Scope of Position
The Comprehensive Cancer Center, Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute is committed to providing the community/region it serves with high-quality services in cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation. Under the direction of the Director of Pharmacy – Cancer Pharmacy Services, this position leads and manages patient care services for the James Cancer Hospital oncology outpatient infusion areas for the pharmacy enterprise. The James Cancer Hospital outpatient oncology infusion includes ten infusion units in eight care locations. The pharmacy enterprise contributes to the academic and research mission of the university by training yearly almost 30 residents, publishing 42 peer-reviewed papers, and precepting nearly 10,000 pharmacy student hours of experiential education.
Position Summary
This position provides management for the patient care services of the outpatient oncology infusion pharmacies. This position assists with the implementation and maintenance of an enterprise-wide pharmacy practice model, specifically contributing to the area of oncology outpatient infusion services. This pharmacy practice model is guided by the Ohio Board of Pharmacy Practice Act (OAC4729-5). This position is responsible for direct supervision of a portion of the oncology outpatient infusion pharmacists. This includes oversight of staff in the areas of productivity, quality, cost, and continued compliance with all national, state, and local regulations. This position supports The Ohio State University’s research and education missions. For the purposes of this job description, direct patient care services refer to the following activities: patient care rounding, order verification, medication dispensing, collaborative drug therapy management under a consult agreement, and educating patients, healthcare professionals, and students.
Minimum Qualifications
For Hire: This position must be a licensed pharmacist in good standing with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy or be eligible for licensure. A B.Sc. in Pharmacy, or Doctor of Pharmacy degree (PharmD) is required. An advanced administrative degree (M.S., MHA, MPH, MBA) is preferred. Post-graduate residency training is preferred. In addition, a significant track record in scholarship and teaching are preferred.
