Scope of Position 

Perfusion Services provides extracorporeal and assist device support for patients in the operating room and intensive care unit setting. Perfusion Services provides support for surgical procedures requiring intraoperative autotransfusion cell salvage and assists in intraoperative chemotherapeutic procedures. The Perfusionist takes part in the ECMO Retrieval Program.

Position Summary 

The Senior Perfusionist provides independent advanced extracorporeal support during cardiothoracic, transplant, vascular, and oncologic procedures. This role applies in-depth clinical expertise to optimize patient outcomes, integrate perfusion services with the interdisciplinary team, and ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality operations. The Senior Perfusionist demonstrates expert judgment, autonomy, and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources in rapidly evolving clinical situations.

The Senior Perfusionist communicates effectively with all care providers and explains complex or sensitive information to patients or families when appropriate. This position requires leadership, collaboration, and mentorship skills to support the professional growth of colleagues and students and advance departmental quality initiatives

Minimum Qualifications 

   For Hire: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Perfusion Services and board eligible for ABCP.

   Ongoing: Maintains good standing and certification with the ABCP.
