The Social Worker 3 provides advanced social work services to inpatients, outpatients, and their families within The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and its clinics. Responsibilities include conducting psychosocial assessments, providing mental health counseling and crisis intervention, supporting discharge planning, offering financial counseling, educating patients and families, and coordinating material resources and community agency linkages. The role addresses the social and emotional needs that influence a patient’s medical condition, treatment, recovery, and safe transition between care environments. Core competencies include strong psychosocial assessment skills, crisis intervention expertise, knowledge of post‑acute levels of care and the PASAAR process, and the ability to assess and respond to concerns related to neglect, abuse, substance use, and domestic violence.

Minimum qualifications include a Master of Social Work from an accredited Graduate School of Social Work and State of Ohio Independent Social Work licensure (LISW), along with ongoing compliance with required education, licensure, and health surveillance standards.
