Student Assistant - Robotic Surgery Program

This student position is with the Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Program at The James and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.  The student will assist administrative staff with daily tasks of clerical work, education and training lab setup, and active research projects.  Student will input data and organize spreadsheets, pick up mail, make copies, run errands, digitize filing, assist with onsite observers going to the operating room, computer data entry, assist with special projects and attends department meetings and events.

Required Qualifications

Proficient with Microsoft teams, outlook, work, and excel.  Must be able to physically move surgical equipment for lab trainings.  General knowledge of a healthcare setting. High school diploma or GED preferred. Preferred minimum years of relevant experience 0-2

As part of the Surgical Services at The James and The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, The Robotic and Minimally Invasive Surgery Program is dedicated to the achievement of excellence in patient care, clinical training, research, and outcomes studies pertaining to techniques and technology in robotic and minimally invasive surgery.  Our unique program is one of the few in the country that has an administrative infrastructure to support many different activities as it relates to robotics and minimally invasive surgery, which include:

  • Research conducted under seed grants and clinical trials, database management, support for multidisciplinary research (including NIH-funded basic science research).  
  • Education including resident and fellow labs, faculty training, CME events, intercollege collaboration, provide a site for industry to train surgeons in new technologies and techniques, OR staff education and training, FLS, FES and FUSE testing.  
  • Collaborative expertise for clinical trials, product evaluation, RFPs, credentialing, and compliance.

The student assistant may need to work an occasional weekend to support activities. Student may need to travel to different medical center facilities depending on the activity. Student will participate in regular administrative meetings.
